My Name is Ifeoma Ben. I am a Law Professional with experience in presenting and delivering solutions and services in the legal field. I am a results driven professional who has worked well in breaking down the barriers between the functions and the businesses as well as delivering momentum with greater efficiency and effectiveness. My Core Competences include Corporate and Commercial Law Practice, Property Law Practice, Litigation, Arbitration.

2. What’s your definition of purpose? When and How did you find out yours?

My definition of purpose is: Knowing why God created me and the reason for my existence.

I discovered my purpose gradually through various experiences in life. As a Law Professional, I derive joy in fighting for the administration of justice.

3. Why did you chose law as your career path? Was there an inspiration behind it?

My Father is a Lawyer. I have a Cousin who is also a Lawyer. At an early stage, I had opportunities of interacting with a lot of Lawyers. My father always painted a good picture of the Legal Profession as a noble profession and I took interest in studying law.

4. In an interview you talk about the challenges you have faced as a young lawyer. Will you talk about a few here?

Young Lawyers in Nigeria usually face a lot of challenges ranging from underpayment to not being appreciated by their employers. The older generation of Lawyers tend to see “new wigs” as amateurs, having little to offer and undeserved to earn high wages. There are a few exceptions offcourse. The big law firms in Nigeria pay their young Lawyers well but there are few of such law firms compared to the number of young lawyers.

5. You said Young lawyers are underpaid. What advice would you like to give other young lawyers out there?

I advise young lawyers to work hard to distinguish themselves in the legal profession. There are new areas of law practice where a young lawyer can begin his career and become an authority within a short span of time. Young Lawyers can use technology to grow law practice and become outstanding legal practitioners.

6. You are passionate about Human Rights and you fight for people who cannot fend for themselves. Would you say that helping others is your passion?

I have a passion for helping the defenceless. As a member of the Human Rights Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association Lagos Branch, I offer Pro Bono legal services to prison inmates and indigent citizens who cannot afford to pay for legal services.

7. Is there any particular incidence that changed your life? That inspired you to help others?

I have visited prison several times and had opportunities of interviewing prison Inmates. During such interviews, I have discovered that some Prison inmates are not meant to be there. Some are actually innocent of the charges so I do my best to seek justice in those cases.

8. You always say “Music is food for the soul”. What kind of music are you referring to? Would you like you to suggest it to our readers?

I am a Chorister. I sing with my Church Choir and some other choral groups. I sing classical music and also gospel songs. I sing Alto and I love it.

9. Here at Beauty and Purpose we believe in inspiring women to shine in their beauty while walking in their purpose. What's your definition of beauty and how do you celebrate your individual beauty?

Beauty to me means much more than physical beauty. Physical beauty is very good but inner beauty is perfect. Inner beauty radiates love and special personality. I celebrate my individual beauty by showing love to everyone and striving to be the best version of me.
