This week we have Emily Wakesho, creator of a luxury natural skin and hair care brand called Beleza Simples. Emily's free spirit and dream gave birth to "Beleza Simples", these words are drawn from the Portuguese language and they stand for Simple Beauty.
What’s your definition of purpose?
My definition of purpose is living out God's plan for me. Each one of us has been given divine gifts, talents and abilities that we are to discover, develop and then share with God's people. When we have a passion and a desire pouring out of us like a waterfall, we should pay attention to that and seek to look deeper into it. This is your purpose.
When did you know for sure that this is your purpose and when did you decided to pursue it?
I knew for sure that this is my purpose because of the joy and fulfillment that came with the production process, the fact that I eat, sleep, drink oils and butters, lol. It's an obsession and I love it! The emotions and peaceful moments that I get from creating formulas and bringing together different ingredients that work in harmony to bring back health to skin and hair is just amazing! It's almost euphoric in nature. These formulas come to me like an outpouring from the Lord God. It gives me a feeling that God has chosen me to share my gifts.
I decided to pursue my purpose sometime in June 2017 by that time I had already registered the company name, designed labeling and packaging and bought all the ingredients I was to need at that point. I started out with the body butter and different variants of it, I have then grown on to create body scrubs, hair butter, face serums and face masks. I am currently scheduled to enroll into a natural skin care course from one of the leading natural cosmetic science schools in the UK.
What made you believe that your dream will lead you to your success?
I believe that my dream will lead to my success because whatever God ordains He sustains and brings it to a beautiful completion. I truly believe that this is the path that He set me on and I will continue to enjoy his blessings as I fulfill my purpose.
What was the inspiration behind Beleza Simples Skin Care products?
The inspiration behind Beleza Simples was my long struggle with dry skin. I went through many great products but the relief offered wasn't sufficient or it was temporary. My dry skin still felt parched. I decided to make use of natural oils that I found in the kitchen such as Olive oil and Coconut oil. I started researching and experimenting with many oils and butters until I developed formulas that worked wonders for me. I stopped using commercial products from then and decided to share my products with other people.
Was it difficult at first? Or you had an easy path?
It has been rather challenging balancing work and Beleza Simples especially when I have many orders but I am learning how to balance it all as I go along....love and passion keeps me going. I thank God for the strength, direction and the continuous beautiful inspiration that he keeps pouring in me.
How will you define your success? And who is your biggest motivation?
Success in my opinion is being able to do what I love, making tonnes of money from that to share with family, friends and charitable societies. My biggest motivation is being able to affect someone's self esteem in a positive way. It is a feeling that's out of this world when someone thanks you for changing their lives in that way. For making them feel beautiful and confident and that they're staying safe and away from harmful chemicals while doing it.
Besides the Bible what's your favorite self-development book?
Besides the Bible, my favorite self-development book is Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich. This book is amazing. It helped me to conquer fears, to think big and to achieve my dreams. Truly a book for all seasons.
