Don't allow the wealthiest place on earth to be the resting place for your purpose.
So I read a statement today that asked the question, “Where is the wealthiest place on earth?” And the answer was not as shocking to me as it may be to some; “the graveyard”. The graveyard is the wealthiest place on earth. Why is that though? The graveyard is filled with dead bodies, people who once were and are no more. Some have left legacies but my focus is on those who died not fulfilling their purpose which is usually the larger population.
So, I want to talk about that for a minute. Why are so many afraid to walk in their purpose and do what they were created to do? I have thought about this for some time and I realize even for my own life what has kept me back in the past was fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear that it may go wrong. Fear! What if it does not work? What if I fail? What if I am ridiculed? What if I am wrong in what I believe I am called to do? There are so many “voices” that can come up that it can literally cripple and stifle you from moving forward.
So, how do the people who live fully and sing their song and die empty, how they do it? They put one foot in front of the other. They feel the fear and tried it anyway. They recognize that if something they try fails, they themselves are not failures. They have the confidence to separate what they do from who they are, and they are confident in their identity. One of my favorite Psalms is Psalms 139. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, therefore I am not to walk in or after anyone. I can be me and that means I will make mistakes but I am not my mistakes. I am not my failures. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
So here are three ways to get rid of fear.
Decide that you will live in courage. Everything starts with a decision, so make a decision to everyday do something that gets you closer to your dream regardless of how you are feeling.
Accept and believe that you are capable and deserving. Repeat after me. I am deserving. I am capable. I am gifted.
Believe that you have a gift, and this gift-your purpose must be fulfilled while you are alive so that, you will leave a legacy.
